I went to visit Lane and kids last weekend in April. It was so good to see them. I hadn't seen the kids since last summer. They are about grown.I got some good pictures of everyone. Brooke is doing really good on Frank. Colton is his normal good natured self. Haley was having fun riding with Brooke. Mona was really good at helping the kids and Lane. It was a good weekend. Weather was great.
I have gotten really far behind on my blog. In April Logan and I went to California to visit my brother Carl and his wife Leslie. They live in Palmdale. It is what they call high desert. I consider it beautiful. It is desert landscape but the mountains are really beautiful Carl and Les took us everywhere. They had it all planned out and had a really great time. We went to San Diego Zoo, Disneyland and the SequoiaNational Forest. The forest and zoo were my favorites. The snow was outstanding. Posted below are pictures I took.
Logan was a GREAT traveling partner and he was really good. He stole Carl and Leslie’s heart besides teaching them how to play their game on the play station. Coming back weather delayed out travels but Logan was a real trooper. He went right along with what we need to do. He can navigate an airport now with the best of them. I hope we get to take another trip together.
The day we arrived we went to Gladstone’s Restaurant on the Pacific Ocean. This is Logan’s first time to see it. It was cold.
Carl and Les at the restaurant
Friday we went sighting around their house. It was really cool.
Saturday we went to San Diego. I did get to meet my nephew Sean, but unfortunately, I neglected to get a picture of him.
Bird of Paradise flower at our hotel in San Diego. I was fascinated by this flower.
Les and Logan at the hotel
Me and Carl on San Diego boardwalk
We went a park on the boardwalk. There were magicians, stores restaurants. Logan got to help a magician. The he got to talk to the birds.
We went to the zoo the next day. There was this really interesting animal at the zoo. It is related to the giraffe and yes it really does have back legs that look like a zebra. We were there all day and still did not see all of the zoo.
The cruise ships came in to port while we were sleeping. Really cool looking ships.
Les, Logan and me went to Disneyland. Didn’t get too many pictures, we were too busy. Found the buried treasure and me and Logan went in Tarzan’s treehouse.
We went Little RockPark that has dam and beautiful lake. Phillip would have loved it for fishing.
We visited Devil’s Punch Bowl and had a picnic. You can find out interesting information on the fault lines and wildlife here http://www.devils-punchbowl.com/ .
Carl took us to the SequoiaNational Forest. It was really beautiful seeing the tall trees. The snow was pretty too.The picture of Carl and Logan is in front of a honey pine (if I remember that correctly not a Sequoia. But it is still a BIG tree.)
We got to meet Les’s mom. She is a really nice lady. Now I know where Les gets her sense of humor and good nature. (She needs it to put up with Carl J)
It was a great trip. Thanks Carl and Les for putting up with us and showing us your world.
Last weekend we went to Aunt Thelma’s 90th birthday party.
Delma and Thelma Rountree
Most of my cousins were there. Janetta fixed the table and got all the food. Honore’ Moore, a friend of mine, made the cake. We all enjoyed the food and cake.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t as active with my camera as I usually am. So I didn’t get many pictures. I did get pictures of all of Aunt Thelma’s children except for Bill Rountree or his friend Martha. Martha is a great help to Aunt Thelma. She comes over and helps her with anything they need.
Sherry and Tom Colwell
Mike Rountree
Janetta Whiteman and Carol Rogers. ( I wish I had gotten a better picture of Janetta, Aunt Thelma’s daughter. I think she hid whenever the camera came close )
Frank Fuller and Neil Rountree
Delma Rountree, Carol Rogers and birthday girl, Thelma Rountree
David Hussey and his wife (This is Carol Rogers son)
Adam and his family (Janetta’s oldest son)
It was nice getting to visit with everyone. Hopefully we will do that again next year.
We have 3 birthday kids in February. Crystal's and Justin's is the 5th and Logan's is the 20th. I took off from work on Friday, so we Thursday night we went to Crystal's. Stayed with her for 2 nights. We went out to eat Friday night. Frank gave Crystal a 3 lb sledge hammer and a sympathy card for her birthday. Needless to say she was speechless. :-) Crystal chose Chili's in Shreveport. It was good especially the nachos. Saturday all of us went to Phillip's for birthday fun and a cookout. Here are pictures of the birthday kids. Phillip had 2 chickens and 2 pork roast on the smokers and spare ribs on the grill. Mae made potato salad, cole slaw and pinto beans. The food was excellent. Thank goodness for the cooks. While the food was cooking, father and son had time for talks. Mother and son had time to rest. Bella had time to perfect her pogo stick routine. Justin found the ice chest and the Dr Peppers. Phillip and Crystal got together for one of the best pictures yet. After supper, it was time for cake. Some of their friends came over to join in the festivities. Tina, Miles and their 2 sons. Sheila and Marsha Marsha and her girls After everyone left, I found my next computer genius. Justin at 3 years old knows how to get to the Gutterball game on the computer, turn on the speakers and play the game. Sunday we had breakfast and got ready to come home. Logan and Bella are earning money by washing the dogs.
And Justin is off to be the great hunter of the family. This was a really great visit with the kids.
